PROJECT INVEST HOSTING BOOK DRIVE, VOLUNTEER READING EVENTS

October is a time for fall festivals, football and... a book drive. Project Invest, a program supporting quality child care in the Ada area, is hosting its annual book drive, focusing this year on collecting books for children ages 0-4.

New or gently used books can be brought to Vision Bank, Arvest Bank, the main branch of Citizen's Bank, First United Bank, Applebee's, Chili's, Rib Crib and East Central University's Education Building and Bill Cole University Center.

The 2009 book drive collected more than 1,000 books that were donated and distributed to child care centers.

Project Invest is a collaboration of ECU's Child Care Resource and Referral, Smart Start South Central and a number of local businesses. Their goal is to lend support to local child care providers. Various activities scheduled throughout the year help Project Invest enrich and invest in the lives of the area's youngest citizens.

November is slated for volunteer readers at local child care centers. Any local businesses or community or civic groups are welcome to participate. For more information about the volunteer reader program or Project Invest, contact Laura Spivey at 559-5304 or Trish Little at 559-5367.
